Vanessa Amoah Opoku

The German-Ghanaian artist Vanessa Amoah Opoku (*1992, Troisdorf) studied Book Art and Graphic/System Design, Art and Digital Media as well as Artistic Photography and Moving Image in Leipzig, Vienna and Jerusalem. She completed her Meisterschülerinnen degree (artist distinction) with Tina Bara at the HGB Leipzig in 2024. The artist has had solo exhibitions at EIGEN+ART Lab Berlin, Synnika, Frankfurt a.M., and HBS Research Center of the Times Museum Guangzhou, among others. Opoku has also participated in exhibitions at institutions such as Belvedere 21, Vienna, and the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg. She was recently nominated for the S+T+ARTS Prize 2025 by the European Commission and Ars Electronica. In addition to her artistic practice, Opoku also teaches at art academies. She lives and works in Berlin and Basel.
